Marigold or more commonly Calendula has been used medicinally for centuries. Calendula has been considered beneficial in reducing inflammation and promoting wound healing. It has been used to treat a variety of skin diseases and has been seen effective in the treatment of skin ulcerations, eczema, juvenile acne, and dry phthiriasis. Different types of homemade Marigold face mask can be used to treat such skin disorder. Firstly we should know the skin benefits of marigold.
Marigold has antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, as well as it is a strong antiseptic agent and a very effective astringent. Marigold prevents wrinkles by its cell renewal property. It can be used as a natural moisturizer and is very soothing to irritated chapped and sun-damaged skin. It also controls face oil production .i.e stimulates the sebaceous glands
After searching lots of information on the internet about this medicinal flower, then I came to know that it has various amazing benefits for the skin. I prepared some face mask for me which I am going to share with you all. Actually, i wanted to know that in how many days improvement could be seen because I was having many small red pimples on my face due to hormonal changes in my body. After 4-5 days, my some of the pimples were gone and few were on healing stage and my face was glowing too. My skin is combination type and acne prone.
1. Marigold face mask for Acne
Ingredients :
- 2 marigold flower paste/crushed
- 1 tbsp mint leaves powder/ sandalwood powder
- ½ tbsp curd
- ½ tbsp lemon juice
How to apply
Crush the fresh marigold flowers with the help of mortar and pestle or make a smooth paste in a blender with little water. Add sandalwood powder, curd and lemon juice to it and make a smooth paste. Then apply this paste to your cleansed face and rinse it off after 15-20 minutes.
Marigold heals the persistent acne. Mint /sandalwood calms the skin and provide a cooling sensation to the irritated skin and also checks the future acne. Lemon juice removes black spots. Curd cleanses the skin and also makes skin glow.

2. Marigold face mask for dry skin:
- 2 marigold flower paste/crushed
- 1 tbsp cream
- ½ tbsp honey
Mix all and apply on cleansed face and rinse it off after 15-20 minutes with normal water.
Honey and milk cream are natural moisturizer which keeps your skin soft and supple. Marigold soothes skin prevents further dryness and imparts a natural glow to your face.
3.Marigold face mask for oily skin:
- 2 marigold flower paste/crushed
- ½ tbsp gram flour
- ½ tbsp lemon juice
- ½ tbsp curd
Mix all and apply on cleansed face and rinse it off after 15-20 minutes with normal water.
Marigold helps in checking excess sebum thus checking excessive oiliness. Lemon juice checks acne and blackheads, it is extremely beneficial for oily skin. Curd cleanses the skin and also makes skin glow. Gram flour deep cleanses your skin.
4. Marigold face mask for glowing skin
Blend the marigold flower petals with the milk powder, plain yogurt, and grated carrot. It reduces the dullness in the skin and makes the face glow with the natural properties. Use this pack in the winter season to replenish the skin cells.
