Watermelon !! Ahh, this fruit doesn’t need any word to describe, does it? This is one of my favorite fruit that I want to include in my daily diet. It is the coolest and refreshing fruit for me when the sun is raging on us. Even the pictures of watermelon cool my mind. There are many ways to use watermelon for our health and of course, for skin too but I like to get the nutrients of watermelon by adding it in my detox water. Watermelon detox water not only helps me to cleanse the body from inside, it has many benefits for our beautiful skin too.

Watermelon is the perfect superfood you can give to your skin in summer. Watermelon detox water has the two most powerful ingredients which are great for our clear and glowing skin i.e. watermelon of course, and lime.

Watermelon is made with 92% water which is why it helps skin to be hydrated. It is rich in potassium and vitamins A, C, and B. But what makes the watermelon fruit a must-have is lycopene, the antioxidant that helps to make skin look healthy and protects from free radical damages (source). Free radicals in the body can lead to fine lines, wrinkles and age spots. The vitamin A and C contribute to skin health – it repairs and creates new skin cells. Without the nutrient, your skin would appear dull and flaky. (Source)

Lime has vitamin C which is one of the most vital nutrients that can give a boost to your immune system. A regular intake of it can result in a stronger immune system. The presence of potassium is high in lime water and it is helpful in eliminating waste materials from kidneys, keeping the urinary bladder free of toxins.

Watermelon detox water is also a great tool in weight loss, but it just so happens to be amazing for our skin as it makes our skin rejuvenated from within.  Doesn’t get much better than that, eh? So, infuse your water with a few sprigs of mint as well to give it a cool fresh taste.

      Hi Augusta,
The local name for mint leaves in Nigeria is – Na’a Naa . Or you can omit mint leaves and replace it with orange slices.
