Tea tree oil might work more slowly than benzoyl peroxide but seems to be less irritating to the facial skin. When applied twice daily for 45 days, tea tree oil reduces several acne symptoms, including acne severity.

A smaller study published in the Indian Journal of Dermatology, Venereology and Leprology in 2007 involved 60 people with mild to moderate acne who were treated with either a gel containing 5 percent tea tree oil or a placebo for 45 days. Researchers found that the tea tree oil was more effective than the placebo in reducing the severity of acne and the total number of acne lesions. (Source)

      Hi Zainab,
In Summer, You should choose a base oil which has hydrating properties and which is non-greasy like- rosehip, hemp seed oil, jojoba oil, argan oil. In winter you can choose shea butter or almond or rosehip oil.
For essential oil, you can choose- lavender, tea tree, rose, geranium, sandalwood, cedarwood. All these essential oils are effective for acne prone skin.

Coconut oil can clog pores and causes acne. So, you should avoid it. These oils that I said above do not clog pores and hydrates skin deeply. And, please do a patch test before applying any oils.

          Hi Karthika,
Yes, you can mix the essential oils in your creams. But if you have acne prone skin, you should use oil-free, non-comedogenic creams and moisturizer. Otherwise, the essential oils will not work to treat your skin condition.

      Hi Cepek,
Argan oil and hemp seed oil will be best to use as a base or carrier oil for your serum. It’s non-comedogenic and non-greasy. Mix 1 tablespoon of argan oil and 1 tablespoon of hemp seed oil in a dark colored glass dropper bottle. Then, add 10 drops of tea tree oil and 3 drops of lavender oil. Shake well and use it twice a day on cleansed face.

Also, you can use aloe vera gel mixed with different essential oil as a daily moisturizer. You can find this recipe here- https://alluringsoul.com/diy-acne-gel/

And, you should use tea tree oil mixed with witch hazel as a face toner. This will cleanse your open pores deeply. I hope this can help your problems.

      Thanks
      Mamta
