Anyone can struggle with dry skin at any point of age. And it can seriously affect your beautiful skin. Dry skin itches, flakes and it makes it way harder to effectively apply makeup. And sometimes cosmetic products itself make things even worse. So, why don’t we go natural to treat your dry skin problem which has no side effects. In this post, you will get 13 effective ways to get rid of dry skin on face and the recipes which can make your skin soft and supple. Firstly, Let’s have a look at what are the common causes of dry skin on face.

Causes of dry skin on face

  • Using harsh chemical filled face soaps and cleanser.

One of the most common causes of dry skin is overuse of harsh chemical filled face soaps and cleanser. The type of soap or cleanser may have a large impact on dry skin. Soap removes oils from the skin and the more often skin is scrubbed with soap, the more oil is removed, ultimately resulting in dryer skin.

Try to avoid chemical filled cleanser and use an herbal or natural cleanser made with natural plant extract and natural oils.

  • Cold temperature and low humidity.

Dry skin is especially common in the winter months when the humidity level outside drops. When the air outside is cold and dry, the water in your skin evaporates more quickly which makes your skin feel dry and tight and makes it look flaky.

  • Hot shower

Avoid long and hot shower because hot water strips off the natural oil of our skin which makes it dry and rough. Natural oil is the reason which makes our skin moisturized and soft.

  • Wrong moisturizer

We always forget that our skin needs a different type of moisturizer for different weather. When picking a moisturizer, be sure to remember the weather outside. If it’s hot and muggy in the summer, you’ll want to go with a lighter formula. When winter comes around, your dried-out skin will need more hydration.

Be sure to purchase moisturizer or serum made with fewer chemicals and more with natural components and also with SPF.

  • Allergic eczema and psoriasis

Eczema and psoriasis are medical conditions in which skin dry out and comes with itching and red patches. It can be solved with doctor’s help and with using a non-irritant skin moisturizer.

  • Dehydration

When skin is dehydrated, it creates more oil to make up for the missing water. This can cause breakouts, irritation and dry patches. Skin can even feel oily and dry at the same time. It is caused by lots of factors such as makeup, diet, incorrect product use, weather; it goes on.

Drink lots of water to hydrate your skin cells and apply a moisturizer with natural ingredients.

  • Excessive sun exposure

When skin is exposed to UV rays, the rays can damage skin cells. This can cause dryness and skin pigmentation or darkening of the skin. The outermost layer of the skin can be damaged by UV exposure and it thickens and becomes dehydrated, leading to rough, flaky skin. The sun’s rays can also damage the skin’s elastin – fibers that help the skin to stay smooth, supple, and youthful looking.

Spend less time under the sun or avoid long beach days and apply a moisturizer with SPF and also body lotion. Also, wear a hat to protect the skin from UV rays.

  • Imbalanced diet

Lack of nutrients hurts the body internally and affects the body externally. Dry, flaky skin is a direct result of poor nutrition. If the skin is cracking and dull in appearance, don’t just look at skin care, the season or the climate. Dry, flaky skin can be a sign of a bigger nutritional problem.

Foods rich in antioxidants like vitamin A, C, and D include colorful fruits and vegetables are good for skin. Berries and citrus fruits are great for skin so are red fruits and vegetables.
